Up your folic acid intake.
Don’t stress over stretch marks.
Mama intuition starts early. Trust it. Don’t feel bad about calling the on call doctor at 3:30am when something doesn’t feel right. Just promise me you won’t go on google overload. That will stress you out more than anything and within five minutes you’re having a panic attack that you have some crazy condition that doesn’t even exist. If you have a question or concern, ask your doctor.
By 27 weeks I was measuring 40 weeks along. You know how pregnant mamas talk about being crazy uncomfortable towards the end? You’ll start feeling that way much sooner – which means it’ll last a lot longer. Unfortunately this one is just part of carrying twins; however, THIS did help some to support my big belly and relieved some of the discomfort. Swimming and floating in water helped a lot too.
The sneeze pain. OH THE SNEEZE PAIN. This actually started around 10 weeks for me and lasted all the way through. I dreaded a sneeze coming on because it was excruciating. I still tense up when I feel one coming on ten months later!
Buy tums in bulk.
This was one of the toughest parts for me. Heartburn affects a lot of pregnant women, with twins, it’s nearly a given, and it is crazy intense. Be sure to buy the jumbo size – you’ll need it.
Get ready for lots of appointments
You will be very close to your doctor as you will have frequent appointments to check on your little ones and make sure they are growing well and you are staying healthy. Given that twin pregnancies are considered high risk, you will most likely also be seeing a MFM (Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist) in conjunction with your normal OB.
